Patricia Janet Scotland, Baroness Scotland of Asthal,, is a Dominican-British barrister and politician who served as the sixth secretary-general of the Commonwealth of Nations from 2016 to 2025. She was the first woman to hold that post.
Dominica
Dominica, officially the Commonwealth of Dominica, is an island country in the Caribbean. It is part of the Windward Islands chain in the Lesser Antilles archipelago in the Caribbean Sea. The capital, Roseau, is located on the western side of the island. Dominica's closest neighbours are two constituent territories of the European Union, both overseas departments of France: Guadeloupe to the northwest and Martinique to the south-southeast. Dominica comprises a land area of 750 km2 (290 sq mi), and the highest point is Morne Diablotins, at 1,447 m (4,747 ft) in elevation. The population was 71,293 at the 2011 census.
Attorney General for England and Wales
His Majesty's Attorney General for England and Wales is the chief legal adviser to the Sovereign and Government in affairs pertaining to England and Wales as well as the highest ranking amongst the Law officers of the Crown. The Attorney general is the leader of the Attorney General's Office and currently attends the Cabinet. Unlike in other countries employing the Common law legal system, the attorney general does not govern the Administration of justice; that function is carried out by the Secretary of State for Justice and Lord Chancellor. The incumbent is also concurrently Advocate General for Northern Ireland.
