İsmet İnönü, Turkish general and politician, 2nd President of Turkey (born 1884)

Mustafa İsmet İnönü was a Turkish politician and military officer who served as the second president of Turkey from 1938 to 1950, and as its prime minister three times: from 1923 to 1924, 1925 to 1937, and 1961 to 1965.

The president of Turkey, officially the president of the Republic of Türkiye, is the head of state and head of government of Turkey. The president directs the executive branch of the national government and is the commander-in-chief of the Turkish military. The president also heads the National Security Council.
