Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, Equatoguinean lieutenant and politician, 2nd President of Equatorial Guinea

Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo is an Equatoguinean politician, former military officer and dictator who has served as the second president of Equatorial Guinea since 1982. Previously, he was the Chairman of the Supreme Military Council from 1979 to 1982. As of 2025, he is the longest consecutively serving current non-royal national leader in the world, followed by Paul Biya of Cameroon.

The president of Equatorial Guinea is the head of state of Equatorial Guinea, a country in the Gulf of Guinea. The president has formal presidency over the Council of Ministers and is the commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Equatorial Guinea. Francisco Macías Nguema was the first person to hold the office, taking effect on 12 October 1968. The incumbent is Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, having taken office on 3 August 1979.
