The city of Pori (Swedish: Björneborg) is founded by Duke John on the shores of the Gulf of Bothnia.
Pori
Pori is a city in Finland and the regional capital of Satakunta. It is located on the west coast of the country, on the Gulf of Bothnia. The population of Pori is approximately 83,000, while the sub-region has a population of approximately 128,000. It is the 10th most populous municipality in Finland, and the eighth most populous urban area in the country.
Swedish language
Swedish is a North Germanic language from the Indo-European language family, spoken predominantly in Sweden and parts of Finland. It has at least 10 million native speakers, making it the fourth most spoken Germanic language, and the first among its type in the Nordic countries overall.
John III of Sweden
John III was King of Sweden from 1569 until his death. He attained the Swedish throne after a rebellion against his half-brother Erik XIV. He is mainly remembered for his attempts to close the gap between the newly established Lutheran Church of Sweden and the Catholic Church, as well as his conflict with and possible murder of his brother.
Gulf of Bothnia
The Gulf of Bothnia is divided into the Bothnian Bay, the (North) Kvarken and the Bothnian Sea, and it is the northernmost arm of the Baltic Sea, between Finland's west coast and the northern part of Sweden's east coast. In the south of the gulf lies Åland, between the Sea of Åland and the Archipelago Sea.
