The National University of San Marcos is a public research university located in Lima, the capital of Peru. In the Americas, it is the first officially established and the oldest continuously operating university.
Estadio Universidad San Marcos
The Estadio de la UNMSM is a multi-purpose stadium located in Lima, Peru, belonging to the National University of San Marcos. It was inaugurated on May 13, 1951, with a seating capacity of 32,000 and covers an area of 48,782 m2. Safety measures have been taken and they have reduced the maximum to 32,000 for the safety of the public. The stadium is used by several Peruvian teams who do not have a home ground. It has a running track and is near an archaeological excavation site known as Huaca San Marcos, which is also located in the center of the University City of the National University of San Marcos. In 2019, it was the main stadium for the football matches of the 2019 South American U-17 Championship and the 2019 Pan American Games.
