Sunil Gangopadhyay, Indian author and poet (born 1934)

Sunil Gangopadhyay or Sunil Ganguly was an Indian poet, novelist, short story writer, and critic. He played a key role in modernizing Bengali poetry and co-founded the 1953 avant-grade poetry magazine Krittibas. Widely regarded as one of the most prolific Bengali writers since Rabindranath Tagore, he has been called "the man who carried the modern consciousness of Bengal."
