Kevin Johnson, American basketball player and politician, 55th Mayor of Sacramento

Kevin Maurice Johnson is an American former professional basketball player and politician who served as the 55th mayor of Sacramento, California, from 2008 to 2016. Elected in 2008 and re-elected in 2012, Johnson is the first African American to serve as mayor of Sacramento. Before entering politics, Johnson was a professional basketball player in the National Basketball Association (NBA).

This is a list of mayors of Sacramento, California. The Sacramento City Council met for the first time on August 1, 1849, and the citizens approved the city charter on October 13, 1849. The City Charter was recognized by the State of California on February 27, 1850, and Sacramento was incorporated on March 18, 1850.
